knocking out flannels

I am presently working on 2 flannel quilts and have the 3rd one planned.  Also, am kicking around making a line quilt....not sure that's the name... but where you just put similar or the same widths of single strips all the way down the quilt.  That is the pattern.  No fuss.  It's for little girl...and I don't want to out-do her grandmother.  Considering taking the same idea and with navy blue strips for water and then working a sailboat into the back of a baby quilt... sounds too complicated.  Also, need to tie my other baby quilt and have it ready this weekend.  Ahhhh....finished quilts!!!

I am just a tad frustrated that I haven't sewn anything yet today... going to remedy that shortly!  I have a cool idea for a fall quilt that I want to make.  I saw it on Red Headed Mermaid Blog...it's a cathedral steps quilt.   Quite cool!

Process progress? somewhat.

This was one of those days where I am pinning multiple tops.  The stage of quilting where you square up the quilt, the backing, work with the batting, tape it to the floor, and pin it all.  Trying to get it tight, straight,.... ugh.  Not my favorite part of quilting but that may be also that I have so many of them to do.  Kinda stacked up on me.  We moved a year ago and a number of projects got packed instead of being finished.  Getting out old projects just isn't so fun.  And too, my tastes have changed.  Good thing really.  I need to learn how to post pics so you all can see what I have, see my ideas, and I have to say.  Also, I am enjoying finding so many cool blogs.  People at similar skill levels or way beyond, but that have taken a fresh approach to what they put together and how.  Anticipating the fun of getting started on my newbies :-).

process pledge ... new button ... yea!

In perusing a ton of awesomely fabulous quilting blogs in the wee hours of the morning, i came across a new button, in sidebar, which sounds like research gathering for a textile masters...incredibly ingenious idea. Categorizing projects in an Excel-like fashion and setting up column headings for all the important data, i came up with a list that helps me focus on where i really am with my quilts in progress, quilts in the running (next in line), and my quilt wanna bee's (ideas that are currently cooking but not cut out yet).  My columns kept increasing with different parameters of what really interested me like, did they need borders, had i taken a pic yet, had i picked the back of the quilt out but hadn't cut it yet, did either the top or backing need borders, had i washed the fabric yet or was i bypassing this step on this quilt, etc.  Helped all those newbie ideas get out of my head and onto paper.... my list of quilt projects totaled over 20 something. Encouraging.

quilting blogs

The world of quilting blogs is happily growing larger and I for one am quite happy about that.  I am learning how to post, update, use a RSS feed, and such.  Next step, uploading quilt pics and project progress pics :-).   There are A LOT of very talented quilters out there.  What a relief!!  Looking forward to enjoying what everyone else has to say.  Hope you all will enjoy my blog as well.

Progress on multiple QUILT TOPS

I am currently working down my list of pinning together the pieced tops, battings, and backings of several quilts in the making.
