new baby quilt about to be finished!!!!
This quilt was a cool pattern that I saw from a quilt store in Kerrville, TX. Has the main body of the quilt on point, in which I used a charm pack to set the body of the quilt in, then used the colors to come up with the border alternating block pattern on the border. Tried to stay true by using similarly 1930's types of fabrics, except for the border, which is a modern red with yellow, orange, violet, and green dots on red. It pulls out the colors in the border blocks.

project update: kitchen curtains
Progress was made today on the kitchen curtains for the large window. I have both panels made with the lining attached. Now all I have to do is measure and put the pleats in, then hang them tomorrow hopefully.

background is an issue
Alright, we know that most of the cool crafting blogs out there these days are on a more neutral backdrop and understandably so....so you can have a streamline look so that the posts and pics pop. As much as i like the pink swirl background and honestly I do like it, I have my doubts about how the sewing pics are going to look against it.
Just to let everyone know that the background is under consideration of being altered. So I'll have to see what works best.

a sewing blog
sewthisisme is a blog about me, about sewing, about my life. I have a lot of ideas and I would like to post them and let you know what I am doing (in the creative sense) and how my projects are progressing and hope that it will encourage you in some way. In turn, I hope a conversation emerges and ideas start to fly and somehow we all benefit :-).
I have been sewing since I was eight, when I learned to sew making barbie doll clothes. My grandmother helped me with some doll patterns to help stylize my creations and I specifically remember making barbie a charcoal gray 60's style coat. Later, my mom signed me up for a sewing class at a local sewing shop after I had made numerous clothes and this is where I finally learned the importance of facings and a properly sewn zipper!!! What a difference a little technique, practice, and ripping accomplish. That was at the age of 12 years old. Now, sew many garments, drapes, quilts later here I am starting this blog with the hopes of getting my ideas out there to share, hoping to hear from others about their great ideas, starting a community of sewers, quilters, and such.
